wow!38 If you can’t decide on souvenirs, choose a Wakkanai Brand.

Facing both the Okhotsk Sea and the Sea of Japan, Wakkanai is a treasure trove of marine products,
where delicacies from the two seas can be enjoyed.
What's more, countless agricultural and livestock products are nurtured amid the abundant nature,
and goods produced using these resources – as well as regional recourses such as the culture and nature of which Wakkanai is proud – are certified as "Wakkanai brands" and widely conveyed throughout Japan and beyond.

Quality items that Wakkanai residents can recommend with confidence

“Wakkanai brand” certification began in 2012. The brands can be broadly divided into three types:
“raw ingredients” such as seafood or agricultural and livestock products and the like;
“processed goods” made from those ingredients; and “regional resources” such as culture and nature.
A total of 7 raw ingredients, 24 processed goods,
and 4 regional resources have been certified to date (as of March 2021).
To be certified, items are required to clear strict criteria, such as being suitable to represent Wakkanai,
safety and narrative standards, excellent taste and quality, as well as a stable supply capacity.
The appeal of Wakkanai can be sensed in each of the 35 Wakkanai brands that
have cleared these criteria – specialty items of which we are proud.
